Ugo N’gan’ga Gitau grew up traveling throughout East and West Africa; this is where the infectious rhythms of the tribal drums first took hold of him. In 1995, he returned to Canada and found a new home in the after-hours club scene. In 1999, he revealed his true musical colors as the infamous B’UGO. Skipping the bedroom DJ phase, he somehow ended up on 2 technics 1200s and a rotary mixer at the internationally known Montréal based deep house series, Therapy. It’s during this four-year residency that he was able to study his craft.
Cumulating 22 years of experience, B’UGO has established himself as a Disc Jockey in the musical genres of House, Techno and Disco. He has worked in TV, radio, press and was named Best DJ in the Mirror’s Best Of Montréal quite a few times. B’UGO headlines some of the city’s top rated parties in the underground loft circuit, Queer, afterhour, and corporate scenes. Currently a resident at Le Salon Daome, in Montréal, he has performed at legendary clubs such as Le Salon Daome, Parking, Circus, and Stereo, alongside A-list entertainers such as Honey Dijon, Dimitri from Paris, Dj Gregory, The Martinez Brothers, Angel Moraes, Fred Everything, Manny Ward, Hector Romero, Hex Hector, & Roy Davis Jr. B’UGO headlined The Caribbean Evolution of House Festival in Turks & Caicos 5 times since 2012. He is also a staple at Montréal Fashion Week, Montréal Jazz Festival, Just for Laughs, Mundo Dsiko at Fiérté Montréal, Toronto Gay Pride and is a resident DJ for H&M’s multiple in-store events across Canada.
