Marie-Paule Grimaldi

Born in Montréal in 1980, but the result of several other whereabouts’ influence, Marie-Paule Grimaldi throws her poetry in the face of anyone who wishes to lend an ear. First and foremost a poetic performer —and then a slammer for pleasure—she has participated in various literary and cultural events as poetess or hostess, as well as helping produce and promote these events. Slam allows her a multiplicity of occasions to appear on different scenes in the Montréal area, but also during events of a social nature. She teaches writing workshops at Passages, a shelter and reinsertion resource centre for young women in difficulty. This activity has led her to become involved with ATSA’s État d’urgence in 2008, as well as with Les Filles électriques in the course of their social mission, and help provide a tribune for these women, so seldom heard. Poetry is her means of changing the world in her own way, but with a touch of sensibility and vulnerability.
