Charles Guilbert

Charles Guilbert has a Master’s degree in literature. As an artist, he has followed an eclectic path, freely exploring a range of art forms and seeking to establish original connections between them. Whether in video, words, song, or drawings, he creates sketches in which the banal is juxtaposed with the extraordinary, reality with fiction. In stripped-down settings, he explores daily life, speech, and the relations between individuals. Among his publications are Les Inquiets (Herbes rouges, 1993) and Le beau voyage éducatif (Éditions Dazibao, 2004). In 2004, he and Serge Murphy were the winners of the Bell Canada Award for outstanding achievement in video art, attributed by the Canada Council for the Arts.
