Benoît Jutras

Benoît Jutras was born in Montreal in 1975. In 2002, he published Nous serons sans voix for which he received the Émile-Nelligan award and was a finalist for a number of other awards, such as the Jacqueline-Déry Mochon prize, the Alain-Grandbois award from the Académie des lettres du Québec and the Governor General’s award. He holds a Master’s degree in literature from l’UQÀM. He has given many readings since 1998, and with his second collection of poetry, L’Étang noir, was a finalist for the Estuaire des Terrasses Saint-Sulpice poetry award in 2005, the Alain-Grandbois award and the Governor General’s award. He wrote a literature column for the weekly newspaper Voir from 2004 through 2007, and currently teaches literature at the college level. In fall 2007, he published his third book, L’année de la mule.
