Nicolas Letarte-Bersianik

A composer, improviser, and multi-instrumentalist, best known as a drummer and acoustic and electric handsaw player, Nicolas Letarte has been active in musical composition and performance since 1981. He has played with many groups and artists, including Urbain Desbois, Alexandre St-Onge, Maryse Poulin, Sylvie Chenard’s “Les projets de la baleine,” the Orchestre des Éléphants, the Psynoportuns and Yeszceraz. He has contributed his musical talents to theatre, with Jean-Frédéric Messier, Ex Machina and Robert Lepage, Pascale Raffie, Harpagon, Le P’tit Loup and Le Cochon Souriant; to dance, with Geneviève Lechasseur, Guylaine Savoie, Brouhaha Danse and Carbone 14; and to cinema, with Anne-Marie Tougas, Helen Doyle, Isabelle Dufour, Ève Lamont and Pierre Bastien. In addition, his personal research and original musical language have led him to accompany many authors, poets and storytellers during literary events and festivals.
