Mankind unites the talents of two women who are fierce, fabulous and maybe just a little bit nuts. But D. Kimm and Alexis O’Hara are no ditzy ingénues. These are interdisciplinary artists who have been around the block and aren’t afraid to get a little dirty in the pursuit of strange and wonderful artistic territory. What they lack in musical virtuosity (bo-ring), they more than make up for with their electric stage presence, their audacity and their charming and abrupt approach to the world of musique actuelle. They bounce between “spokenoise” and just plain “noise”, embracing the risks and rewards of improvisation. They steal shamelessly and give freely, with four fists.
