Since publishing her first novel in 1999, Dortoir des esseulés, Véronique Marcotte has led a double career as novelist and theatre director. Her second novel, Les Revolvers sont des choses qui arrivent (XYZ Editeur), tackles subjects such as psychossis and matricide, mental health being one of her prime concerns. Her latest novel, Tout m’accuse, to be published in February by Québec-Amérique, looks at different situations, from violent to subtle ones, that destroys people’s mental equilibrium. The author takes much of her inspiration from the marginal communities she has been teaching in for the last 10 years. Finally, Véronique Marcotte was the first writer in residence at Passa Porta in Brussels, in 2005.
