Emmanuelle Orange

Emmanuelle Orange was born in Montréal, May 19th, 1977, from a francophone father and an anglophone mother, both opera signers. Emmanuelle begins her singing career in a small Montréal Chinatown restaurant where she unfolds her 15 songs repertoire: she is 2 years old. However, life will bring her to study Arts & Media Technology in Jonquière, and she will afterwards work as a film/video post-production coordinator for over 5 years. In parallel, she takes vocal lessons, danse lessons, theatre lessons, participates in theatrical productions, and begins to write. Emmanuelle’s poetry conveys a poetic imagery where the unconscious wakes up one morning in the body of the conscious and speaks its’ mind. Emmanuelle likes to preserve the confusion and the abstract touch of this non linear and timeless mind, which tends to flirt with the world of dreams. A mind who expresses itself in french, in english, in mandarin, in latin and in an invented language. Thus, a poetry that looks to be the blurred reflexion of a reaction, an impression, an intuition about certain aspects of life, before having rationally thought them through. On top of all of this, Emmanuelle has begun a major in East-Asian Studies at the University of Montréal, where she is learning chinese-mandarin. She has already made two trips to China; one of which was a student exchange program in Tianjin, near Beijing, where she has finished her intermediate level of mandarin at the reknowned Nankai University.
