Will Prosper

Will Prosper is one of the founders and spokesmen for the Montréal-Nord Republik (MNR) movement. The MNR is known for its contribution to the launching of a public enquiry on the Freddy Villanueva issue. MNR’s goal is to bring together the neighborhood and ultimately the population of Montréal in denouncing what he sees as economic, social, cultural and political oppression. Will Prosper is also the initiator and organizer of the Hoodstock event, with the motto of ‘Organize and Rise’. He has participated actively in the creation and development of the Coalition against Repression and Police Abuses, which tries to help the victims of police abuse. He has also been a presenter and signatory of the Declaration against Violence against Women which was circulated on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the tragic Ecole Polytechnique massacre. Will Prosper is currently the director of a Montréal-Nord youth centre which tries to encourage personal development, integration, and civic participation of young people between 13 and 30 years of age. He is also a documentary maker and works on activist movies while developing a blog which will talk about Black culture in Quebec and counter media disinformation on that community.
