An English-language show featuring an explosive mix of amusements, absurdities, activism, slung truths, rhythm and rap, kitschiness, craziness and other subtleties. Add “impure” poetry and shake it all up. Sense of humour recommended. Welcome one and all… and who knows, maybe Cupid will be among the guests!
Once again our talented enchantress Alexis O’Hara will be running the show. To add a little Valentine’s flair, pass on your special requests to her and perhaps she’ll work a little magic…
The evening will be co-produced by Wired on Words and Music, a Canadian spoken-word CD-production company.
Show recorded by CBC Radio One.
With performers Alex Boutros and Kaarla Sundstrom; Hilary Peach of Vancouver; Ottawa rapper Anthony Bansfield; native singer Ndnboy; exceptionally in Montreal, the iconoclastic group Fluffy Pagan Echoes (Vincent Tinguely, Victoria Stanton, Ran Elfassy, Scott Duncan); the winner of the Poetry Slam; and francophone performer Geneviève Letarte who will mutate into English for the night, accompanied by audio artist Chantal Dumas.
Three videos will be projected: This Fire, directed by Marlene Millar, with Ian Ferrier on voice and guitar; and Salt in the Wound and Je Mens by Victoria Stanton.
