The festival is proud to welcome a true legend of the Anglo-American avant-garde and underground. Genesis Breyer P-Orridge achieved recognition with the bands Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV (whose last visit to Montreal was in 1986). Having now become Genesis Breyer P-Orridge she will perform with her band Thee Majesty, founded in 1998 with the guitarist Bryin Dall. Initially a spoken word-based project, Thee Majesty is now a trio with Edley O’Dowd. It presents a mix of poetry, hypnotic and spellbinding music with droning guitars, tablas and digital soundscapes.
Co-presented with the Festival du nouveau cinéma.
PLEASE NOTE that for reasons beyond our control, alcoholic beverages will not be sold during the Thee Majesty show. The Cabaret du Mile End is offering its sincere apologies to the Phénomena festival audience. However, the show still promises to be exceptional and the evening unforgettable, because water, juice, and exotic drinks such as the Shirley Temple will be offered free of charge. And plenty of candy too!
