appropriate public space to embellish it. Their always handmade creations intrigue passersby and put a smile on their face. Their art is driven by unrestrained action and a community spirit. Last year, we fell in love with their installations that enveloped and transformed the street furniture around our show venues with needlepoint knits, velvet and various objects. This year, we are widening our partnership through the promotion of the cultural mediation project Femmes Phénoménales, which was created in collaboration with the Centre des femmes de Verdun. invite participants to make banners out of coloured fabric. These creations will then be draped over the balconies of rue Saint-Laurent residents in the Mile End neighbourhood. A re-appropriation of traditionally feminine needlework to infuse joy and colour into our otherwise grey and anonymous everyday world.

You can follow the project’s progress on our website and on the Les Ville-Laines’ Facebook page.
