In a society where women’s skills are constantly dismissed due to gender bias, La Claque brings us behind the scenes of one woman’s life by using the archetype of the cheerleader. Whether amateurs or elite athletes, these “pom-pom girls” are always hypersexualized in pop culture. By playing on the sport’s iconic prop, La Claque sheds light on the flaws of a rape culture as insidious as it is toxic, a culture in which women are isolated from one another and sisterhood acts as a source of empowerment.
