Fundraising event to benefit Les Filles électriques

“I created Combat contre la langue de bois in 2005 as part of Festival Voix d’Amériques. I’d gotten tired of hearing the same old speeches, the excuses playing like broken records, every time a public figure stepped out of their comfort zone. I decided to organize an evening where participants were asked to commit themselves to their words on a personal level. It was an unexpected success, and due to the demand, I have presented the concept several times over the years. This is our 12th edition, and in this age of pandemic and self-censorship, the Combat contre la langue de bois seems more relevant than ever.” — D. Kimm, artistic director

With special guests:

  • Pierre Rodrigue, Vice President, Québec Affairs, Bell
  • Isabelle Maréchal, producer, media presenter and journalist

Throughout the evening, a dozen courageous public figures will take the stage to speak about a topic of their choosing, ranging from the personal to the political. But instead of standing up there blowing hot air, they will be asked to say what they truly think. The rules are simple: participants must talk for 5 minutes, no counter-arguments and no apologies. Between speeches and during transitions, a killer house band and our irreverent MC will keep the atmosphere electric. The goal is to be confronted with different points of view and to challenge our values and ideas—that is what makes the Combat contre la langue de bois a uniquely bold and festive event.

As this is also Les Filles électriques’s biennial fundraising event, floor seats are available for $100 and balcony seats for $25. This is a very popular event, and tickets will go fast. Don’t wait too long if you want to be able to say, “I was there!
