Katherine Blenkinsop

Katherine Blenkinsop aka Katalyst is a Montreal soul-jazz street poet. She has been gracing Montreal stages over the last three years and her poetry explores everyday life, love relations and revolution. She has performed at Coco Cafe, Renaissance Soap Box, Therapy, The Funk and Soul Festival, and is a resident poet with the Kalmunity Vibe Collective. This summer she won 2nd and 3rd place in the Black Theater Workshop’s Poetry Jam. She has also had the pleasure to perform with Toronto’s Dub Poet’s Collective and Chicago’s Ethnic Heritage Ensemble. Katalyst can also be heard on the airwaves every Thursday from 2-3pm on CKUT 90.3 fm. She co-hosts and produces The Movement Museum, an exploration of dance through history, politics, culture, theory, movement and practice. Katherine is currently working on a collaborative live performance called Soul Integration with Odessa Thornhill, which incorporates poetry, dance, song and theatre.
