Jean-Éric Riopel

Poet Jean-Éric Riopel was awarded the Émile-Nelligan Prize for his collection Papillons réfractaires (1999), recently translated into Spanish (Editorial Paraíso Perdido/Écrits des Forges, 2004). He had the honour of reading his poetry with Isabelle Carré at the Molière Theatre of the Maison de la Poésie in Paris in 2002 and was a guest at the Third Poets’ Biennial in Moscow the following year. His most recent work is entitled Taxi Dancer (Les Petits Villages, 2003). He lives and works in Montreal, where he divides his time between writing and editing the poetry journal Estuaire.
