Deaf from birth, Cambodian-born Theara came to Montréal at age four. He currently teaches at the provincial school Centre Jules-Léger in Ottawa and is a lecturer at Université de Montréal’s Faculty of Medicine, where he teaches LSQ to future doctors, speech pathologists, audiologists and psychologists.
In addition to his studies and work, he has always been fascinated by the arts—particularly visual arts and poetry. He has been exploring poetry in sign language for the past few years.
