Exposition Abrazo

  • Maison de la culture Notre-Dame-de-Grâce
    3755, rue Botrel
    August 30 to October 21, 2018

Abrazo is a collaborative project from photographer Caroline Hayeur and interdisciplinary artist D. Kimm. One artist captures movement and ambiance, the other dances the tango. Their close relationship with the tango community has given them an intimate view of the culture, well beyond the clichés.

Both artists see tango as a social dance as well as a space where tango lovers of all different ages and backgrounds come to gather. Their goal: promote and demystify the ritual of abrazo / embrace, from both a physical (holding in one’s arms) and emotional standpoint.

The result is a series of prints and video projections that portray dancers in different milongas in Montréal and Buenos Aires. Come step into the world of tango, an enthralling, new experience bringing together innovative technologies, documentary techniques, and raw emotion.
