Osei “Manchilde” Alleyne

Manchilde is both a hip hop and spoken work artist. As the lead vocalist of the hip hop group Butta Babees he has shared the stage with such luminaries as Mos Def, Jill Scott and the Roots. As a spoken word artist he has slammed and placed first at the legendary Nu Yorican poets Cafe in Manhattan. Manchilde’s work has branched over into the realm of academia and community service where he has conducted lecture series for youths in hip hop and urban culture. Having graduated in History at Concordia University Manchilde intends to study the oral transmission of African culture through urban music at the graduate level.
