Half Indian and half Danish, Ram’s diverse roots and classical training have assured him of having a unique voice and a comprehensive musical career. One of his earliest musical ventures was as the drummer of the 80’s cult hardcore band, Hazy Azure and has since continued to branch out in a variety of directions, including work as a film composer, studio producer, performer and founder of both Semprini Records and Signed By Force record labels. Following his musical studies, Borcar went on to release two critically acclaimed albums under the moniker Ramasutra — “The East Infection” and “El Pipo Del Taxi”. Under his own name, he released the original soundtrack to the award-winning documentary “Regular Or Super”, a film on the works of German architect Mies van der Rohe. His album production credits include not only his work as Ramasutra and film soundtracks but also Quebec’s electro-pop duo Call Me Poupée, Indian fusion artist Catherine Potter’s Duniya Project, Brazilian funk band Gaia, Bulgarian gypsy artist Lubo Alexandrov (Juno winner for Best World Music Album) and collaborations on the Voivod album “Katorze”. While Ram continues his work as a film composer, his two record labels remain dedicated to releasing new music from domestic and international artists as well as reissues of lost underground gems.
